Microdosing Psilocybin: How It Changed My Life & How You Can Start
Table of Contents
Why I Started Microdosing
In 2014, I was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS)—a disease that attacks the myelin sheath, disrupting the brain’s ability to send signals throughout the body. This disconnection causes symptoms like fatigue, mobility issues, brain fog, and depression.
I’m not a scientist, but when I learned that psychedelics create new neural pathways and repair existing ones, it made sense to me—why wouldn’t microdosing help someone in my condition?
Before microdosing, I suffered from what I called “Sleepy Saturdays”—days where I could barely get out of bed because of extreme fatigue, depression, and anxiety.
But after microdosing for just three months, I noticed a huge shift:
✅ More energy
✅ A better connection with people
✅ Less reactivity to stress
✅ A deeper sense of well-being
I’ll be honest—microdosing wasn’t the only factor. I was also receiving coaching and support, which I highly recommend to anyone trying this path. But for me, microdosing has been a success, and I want others to have the chance to experience its potential.
What Is Microdosing?
Microdosing is the practice of taking tiny, non-intoxicating doses of psilocybin mushrooms to support mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being.
You won’t hallucinate. You won’t feel “high.” Instead, you might notice subtle shifts—better focus, more creativity, less anxiety, or a deeper sense of connection.
How Does Microdosing Work?
Psychedelics work by creating new neural pathways and enhancing brain plasticity. Think of it like adding fresh snow to a ski slope—instead of getting stuck in old thought patterns (anxiety, depression, fatigue), your brain has a chance to form new, healthier connections.
How to Microdose: A Simple Guide
Step 1: Choose a Microdosing Schedule
The Every Other Day Protocol is a great place to start:
- Day 1: Microdose
- Day 2: No dose (observe effects)
- Day 3: Microdose (repeat cycle)
- Continue for 4-8 weeks, then take a 2-4 week break.
Other protocols, like Fadiman’s (every 3rd day) or intuitive microdosing, can work too—it’s about what feels best for you.
Step 2: Start with a Low Dose
Most people begin with 50-150mg (0.05-0.15g) of dried psilocybin mushrooms. Less is more—you’re looking for subtle effects, not a trip.
Step 3: Take Your Dose in the Morning
Microdosing can be energizing, so it’s best to take it early in the day to avoid sleep disruptions.
Step 4: Set an Intention
Microdosing amplifies what’s already present in your life. Before taking your dose, ask yourself:
👉 What do I want to cultivate more of?
👉 How do I want to feel today?
Step 5: Observe & Journal
Keep a simple log of any changes in:
- Mood & emotions
- Energy & focus
- Social interactions
- Physical symptoms
Tracking your experience will help you fine-tune your dose and protocol.
What to Expect When Microdosing
✅ You may notice:
- A gentle boost in energy & motivation
- Enhanced focus & creativity
- A sense of calm & emotional balance
⚠️ You may feel (but can adjust for):
- Fatigue or overstimulation → Adjust your dose or timing
- Mild anxiety → Set an intention, try a lower dose
- Headaches → Stay hydrated
Is Microdosing Right for You?
🚫 You should AVOID microdosing if you:
- Have a history of schizophrenia, or psychosis
- Take SSRIs or anti-anxiety meds (may reduce effectiveness)
- Expect immediate results—microdosing is a long game
✅ You might benefit from microdosing if you:
- Struggle with brain fog, mood swings, or fatigue
- Want to improve focus, creativity, or emotional resilience
- Are open to self-exploration & gradual transformation
Final Thoughts: Microdosing as a Tool, Not a Cure
Microdosing didn’t “fix” me overnight, but it gave me a new level of energy and clarity that I hadn’t felt in years.
It’s not a magic pill—it’s a tool for those willing to engage with the process. And for me, it’s been worth it.
